Pia Pohatu
Pia Pohatu contributes to kaupapa Māori environmental planning and taiao-focused projects, supporting whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori land trusts to give practical expression to kaitiakitanga. She is a trusted and experienced practitioner and published researcher.
Her work brings together cultural values, mātauranga Māori, environmental management and place-based planning to help protect and restore whenua, wai, moana and taonga species.
Pia has supported work across areas such as taiao planning, cultural values, freshwater and wetland restoration, climate resilience, papakāinga considerations and integrated land-use decision-making. She brings a grounded, thoughtful and collaborative approach to kaupapa that seek to strengthen the wellbeing of people and te taiao.
